Investors in Diversity

North Lincolnshire Homes leading the way working towards Investors in Diversity

What is Investors in Diversity (IID)?

IID is a standard developed by the National Centre for Diversity.  Designed to be more than a quality mark, the standard is recognised as a vehicle to develop, evidence and embed equality and diversity on the journey to inclusion.

More than a hundred organisations across all sectors are achieving / working towards IID, these include A1 Housing, Aspire housing, Genesis Housing Group, Horton Housing, Grimsby Institute and North Lincolnshire Council.

Why Investors in Diversity?

Working to achieve the Investors in Diversity is a good way for North Lincolnshire Homes in demonstrating our commitment working on diversity to promote more equal outcomes.  It provides us with external feedback and recognition for the work we are doing and able to evidence that North Lincolnshire Homes have subscribed to working towards the standard (Level 2).

The National Centre for Diversity will be undertaking a formal assessment of our approach in the new year.

To help us prepare for this we have developed an action plan which will allow us to demonstrate how we have progressed in the four areas included in the Accreditation assessment:

The standard is evidenced on four strands:

  • Strand 1 – Committing - Your organisation is committing to creating or developing a truly inclusive organisational culture in which diversity is genuinely valued’.
  • Strand 2 – Learning - Your organisation develops as a learning organisation which continuously and proactively self-assesses.  It is able to plan and adapt in order to improve how it manages diversity. All are encouraged to improve their own and other people’s diversity related awareness, knowledge and skills’.
  • Strand 3 - Developing - Your organisation is becoming more proactive in developing and sustaining the diversity of its workforce.  Through the provision of support and services, your organisation promotes diversity within itself.  Your organisation seeks to influence its wider partners to be positive about diversity’.
  • Strand 4 - Improving - Your organisation adopts or creates a range of self-assessment measures to assess development, new opportunities, the extent of culture shift and any improvement in the feeling of inner well being within your organisation’
