The Choose to Reuse Furniture Store is a not-for-profit social project that reuses unwanted furniture and household items to sell at low-cost to the general public, and to help vulnerable tenants set up their home and sustain their tenancy.
The shop is open to anyone and North Lincolnshire Homes tenants in receipt of Housing Benefit can also receive a 20% discount on the shop price.
The store was opened in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, in November 2010 as a partnership initiative to address poverty and financial exclusion and provide local employment and training opportunities for young people.
A big bonus is that it also supports North Lincolnshire Homes’ green agenda for reducing its carbon footprint and North Lincolnshire Council’s targets to lowering landfill levels.
The project provides a solution to the large amount of discarded furniture and household items that are left in North Lincolnshire Homes’ properties when a tenancy comes to an end.
Donated items are resold to members of the community. Even the shop itself is a recycled product – it used to be a housing office which was no longer needed.
The shop, located on Enderby Road Scunthorpe, relies on generous donations from members of the public to keep operational.

The shop is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 10:00am – 12:00pm and 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
Please note: We are unable to accept any electrical or gas appliances - except white goods, any built in bathroom or kitchen units, any garden tools, musical instruments, wheelchairs or mobility aids, clothing, baby items, toys or carpets.
The Choose to Reuse store will collect and deliver items - so don't worry if you have an item to donate but can't get it to us, we will come to you. Please ask for more information as conditions do apply.
