Zoom
Internet Explorer 8.0 (IE 8.0) provides you with two options for using the built in zoom feature.
There is the keyboard shortcut and the browser magnification.
To zoom in using the keyboard shortcut simply open IE 8.0 and press:
CTL and + to zoom in, and
CTL and - to zoom out.
To use the built in browser magnification option simply open IE 8.0 and in the bottom right hand corner you should see a magnification tool with a percentage. Clicking the percentage (or the arrow next to it selecting a percentage) will increase the zoom of the browser window. The images below document this process (click to enlarge the thumbnails).
In the bottom right hand corner of your IE 8.0 browser you will notice the magnifying glass and 100% - this is the current zoom of your browser. |
Either clicking the 100% (which will make the zoom increase to 125%) or clicking the arrow and manually selecting a value will magnify your page by this percentage. |
Altering the website colours (Including background, text and hyperlinks)
IE 8.0 has a simple yet effective way for you to customise the settings of how you view the website.
Whilst we have designed our website with colours that don't clash, we recognise that our tenants may still have further needs that require attention. To alter your web settings - for example to have a contrasting yellow background and black text - you do the following:
Open IE 8.0 and navigate to the 'Tools' menu (in the top left and right hand corners or by pressing 'ALT and O')
Select 'Internet Options'
On the box that opens up, under the heading 'Appearance' you will notice the button "Colors" select the button.
A further pop up shall appear. You will notice 'Use Windows colors' is ticked - untick this box and you will see the previously greyed out options of 'Text', 'Background', 'Visited', 'Unvisited' and 'Hover' are now accessible for you to alter to your desired colours by clicking on the coloured boxes.
Once you have selected the colours you wish to use, click 'OK' and the pop up will close.
Now look for the button labelled 'Accessibility' - hint: it is located to the right of the 'Colors' button that you have just pressed.
Another pop up window should appear with the text 'Ignore colors specified on webpages', 'Ignore font styles specified on webpages' and 'Ignore font sizes specified on webpages'.
Tick the box next to 'Ignore colors specified on webpages. Press OK. You should notice your changes are now applied. All that remains is to press OK and close the 'Internet Options' pop up.
Open the 'Tools' menu - located in either the top left or top right of your browser. You can also shortcut to this menu by using your keyboard shortcut of 'CTL and O'. Scroll to 'Internet Options' and click. |
The pop up box labelled 'Internet Options' will open. Look in the bottom left under 'Appearance' and click the button entitled 'Colors'. |
You will notice 'Use Windows colors' is ticked. Untick this box and the greyed out options will now be editable. Pick which colours you wish to use and click 'OK'. |
Now click the 'Accessibility' button also found under 'Appearance'. When the new pop up opens you will notice there are three options starting 'Ignore..." - all are unticked. Tick the top option labelled 'Ignore colors specified on webpages'. Click OK and you will see your changes applied. Click 'OK' to close the 'Internet Options' pop up. |
