OUR ambitious new Group Structure is set to be launched in July.
This follows Board approval in March, however we will still need final consent from Ordinary Members after special general meetings. Our funders (Barclays) and North Lincolnshire Council also support our plans and we now await the consent from our regulator on the 7 June. As previously mentioned, our plans include setting up a Parent Company to oversee three subsidiaries, North Lincolnshire Homes, a profit making arm and community development arm. In the meantime we have been advertising for new Independent Board Members and have had an excellent response from professional people who would like to join our Boards on a voluntary basis.
We will soon be recruiting for Tenant Board Members to further strengthen our governance arrangements in the new Group Structure.
Become a Board Member on our Parent Group
The Board for North Lincolnshire Homes will continue as it is but we need to set up a new Board for the parent company. This will be made up of the chairs of the three subsidiary companies and independent members. We also need a tenant member for the Parent Board.
Become an NLH Board Member
Two Tenant Board Members are standing down this year having completed their three year term. Richard Leach and Cherrill Page will be able to re-apply but will be subject to the same election process as any other interested tenant or leaseholder. Also leaving the Board is Christine Cooper due to personal reasons so there are three places available. We are encouraging applications from younger people so we can cover a true cross section of our customers - young people are currently under represented on our Board. Leaseholders may also stand, but only if they own the leasehold and reside in the leasehold property
Why become a Board Member?
As a Board Member you will have an important role in the organisation directing the company, deciding on company priorities and planning business development. You will need to attend and prepare for meetings, events and conferences, and to undertake any training needed. The rewards for your commitment include learning new skills, gaining experience, making a real difference and meeting new friends.
How does the selection process work?
Contact us for an application pack which contains further information about being a Board Member. If you want to apply, you will need to send in an application form by 16 July 2012 and may be invited to attend an interview. If we get more than three applications from people wanting to be an NLH Board member, there may be an election in which the Ordinary Members of NLH decide which applicants will become Board members.
How do I apply?
You can download the both the NLH Board Member application pack [.zip file containing Word documents - 590 KB] and the Parent Group Board Member application pack [.zip file containing Word documents - 590KB] from our website.
