THREE is the magic number as a housing association holds its third fun day extravaganza – with a trio of big reasons to attend.
North Lincolnshire Homes will for the first time unveil its new diamond-net broadband – a high quality affordable, wireless internet alternative to the big name brands.
The social landlord will also be giving people the know how and skills to prepare for the forthcoming cuts in benefits announced by the Government.
Plus, there will be usual games, colour and excitement for all ages – and the event is completely free.
Diamond-net is the first ‘social’ broadband of its type in the region which will be available to tenants, the pubic and businesses in the area. Beamed from the top of its high rise flats, it will bring ultra fast Broadband courtesy of a 4G network.
Mike Eckersley, Head of ICT at NLH, said: “It is well reported just how much this area suffers from poor broadband coverage.
“diamond-net is a broadband service which offers high speeds of up to 50Mbs and does not require the use of a phone line. This makes the service more affordable for customers."
“It is really important to us that we support our tenants and their families, as well as the wider public to improve their digital access.”
The diamond-net service will be rolled out area by area across Scunthorpe – starting with the Market Hill area from 1 August 2012 – the date of the fun day.
During the fun day there will be dancing, music, a bouncy castle, face painters, information stalls and entertainers.
Multi partners, such as North Lincolnshire Council, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service and Humberside Police, will also be involved, giving demonstrations and information.
The event is from 11am to 3.30pm at Manor Park, Burringham Road, Scunthorpe. Items such as a football penalty shoot out, face painting and bouncy castle will be taking place all day.
