A LOCAL drugs trafficker was evicted from his home following a year-long anti social battle by his social landlord.
The man had effectively formed a ‘drugs den’ at his Winterton property – supplying and selling to people of all ages.
North Lincolnshire Homes’ Anti Social Behaviour Team, was alerted to the problem after numerous complaints from locals about noise and music played at all hours.
Initially the team obtained an interim injunction with a Power of Arrest on the man. And, after evicting the tenant, were then able to obtain an Injunction with an exclusion zone attached - preventing the individual from entering his former street and nearby two streets.
Fran Rhodes, Anti-Social Behaviour Officer at NLH, said: “The spate of intensive anti social behaviour included a daily stream of both young and old drug users attending the property to buy illegal substances from the tenant. They were then discarding their drug paraphernalia on nearby streets.
“The former tenant, who posed as mending his car in his driveway as a means of justifying being at home all day and night, fought his eviction every step of the way.
“He had a tendency to threaten and insight others – particularly lone females - and would use his car to attempt to run tenants and their children off the road.”
Local residents were initially afraid to come forward until one member of the community had had enough and spoke out.
The resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: “Why should my children be witness to such awful illegal ‘druggy’ behaviour? I have lived in this village for over 30 years and I feel I cannot allow my children to play outside for fear they may get run over, or come into contact with the drug users who frequent that property”.
This successful case relied heavily on the bravery of one single mother of three, who was the only person to stand witness at court.
North Lincolnshire Homes praised her actions and have supported her with a full package of victim support.
